Description
Bay leaf (Laurus nobilis) originates from the Mediterranean region and its leaves, also known as laurel or bay leaves, are highly valued in kitchens around the world for their characteristic aroma, which perfectly complements the flavor of many dishes, and also for their stimulating digestive properties! Recently, they are increasingly being used for their health-promoting properties as well. The beneficial effects of laurel leaves stem from the richness of active substances contained within them, such as essential oils (geraniol, cineole, terpenes), flavonoids, tannins, lignans, isochinoline alkaloids, resins, pectins, and gum arabic. They also contain vitamins A, B2, B3, B5, B6, C, and folic acid, as well as minerals like calcium, iron, manganese, potassium, selenium, copper, zinc, and magnesium. Well known for adding flavor to strong-tasting dishes, soups, brews, single-portion meals, goulashes, roasted meats or fish, many sauces, and even baked sea fish. They also pair perfectly with game meat.
